Mentor program aims to improve teacher retention On Monday, Durham Public School officials announced a mentor program, which would take longtime educators out of the classroom and allow them to serve as full-time mentors for newly hired teachers. The program will be supported with $300,000 from the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership, a university-community collaboration.
