Durham's Morreene Road Park playground (between Erwin Road and the U.S. 15-501 overpass) was built by the Durham Parks and Recreation Department. The idea came from undergraduates at Duke.

Most charter schools hit goals Six of Durham's seven charter schools met federally mandated academic-performance guidelines for the 2005-06 school year, according to preliminary results made public this week. At Carter Community School, leadership and strong teaching is what helped the school do well, according to Burnice Cross, director of operations.
