Neighborhood Revitalization: Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life
The Gattis Street Collaborative Celebration
Self-Help, Durham Community Land Trustees and the Durham Habitat for Humanity have teamed up with the City of Durham and the Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life Project to provide affordable quality homes in the
West End of Durham. The opening of Pauli Murray Place took place Friday, June 10, 2005, at the corner of Jackson and Gattis Streets.
The project has a steering commmittee of 10 who represent the six neighborhoods, nonprofits
and for-profits. The two facilitators are residents John Heffernan and Dorcas Bradley.
Mayme Webb serves as a member of the committee representing Duke Community Affairs.
Neighbors served: Residents of Southwest Central Durham, including partner neighborhoods Burch Avenue, Lakewood Park, Lyon Park, Morehead Hill, Tuscaloosa/Lakewood and West End
