Jeannine Sato is director of communications at Duke’s Office of Durham and Community Affairs where she oversees DCA’s communication strategy focusing on the interconnectedness of community engagement within Duke, Durham and regional communities. Jeannine also oversees DCA’s branding and digital presence.

Jeannine started her career as a broadcast news reporter, after which she spent several years working in the private sector, then four years at Carolina Donor Services to promote organ donation in NC. There she was Chair of the statewide committee Donate Life NC. Under her leadership, legislation was passed to give the heart on the license legal, first-person consent, along with public access to a statewide registry. She originally came to Duke in 2008 to help launch the Durham Connects (now Family Connects) newborn nurse home visiting program. Prior to DCA she was communications director at Duke’s Office of Information Technology. Jeannine holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from SUNY Buffalo State College and a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Duke University.
