
Laylon Williams
Criminal Justice Specialist / CIT Coordinator, Alliance Health
Laylon Williams is a dedicated Criminal Justice Specialist and City/County Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator, where he fosters meaningful connections and understandings between organizations within the mental health community and the first responder communities. In his current role, he chairs the Durham Crisis Intervention Team, coordinates and Durham Crisis Intervention Team trainings, which educates the first responders on mental health and allows them to better understand it and better ways to verbally de-escalate situations and help individuals who may present in crisis. He also serves as a point of contact for his Durham First Responder Community Partners, Community Criminal Justice Partners, and work to bridge system gaps between the Mental Health and Criminal Justice fields.
With over eighteen years of experience working in the mental health field, Laylon has a proven track record of empowering and helping mental health populations through innovative face to face work, as well as, community partnerships, like the Crisis Intervention Team Partnerships. He is skilled in community leadership and engagement, program development and implementation, and building strategic alliances that address mental health and criminal justice system gaps.
Laylon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Morris College, a certification as an International Certified Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator, as well as, a certification as an International Crisis Intervention Team Train The Trainer. Passionate about building community relations and bridging system gaps in mental health and criminal justice, he strives to create impactful changes within the community, which includes but is not limited to, improving the over health, lives, and well-being of individuals who live with mental health challenges.
In his free time, Laylon enjoys spending time with his fiancé’, his son, volunteering with his local church, and motivating people about health and wellness, since he is actually a widow maker heart attack survivor.
