About the Program

Thousands of projects are planned every year, uniting millions of volunteers. The Community Service Center coordinates the Make a Difference Day project for Duke students, employees and neighbors.

National Make a Difference Day is Saturday, October 22, 2016

Duke CSC is sponsoring 2 National Make a Difference Day Service Project    

1.  Help children prepare to Blast-Off to Kindergarten!
   9:00-11:30 a.m.
   DukeEngage Classroom
   2nd Floor, Bay, 7S, Smith Warehouse
   15 spots 

   Sign up to help assemble 300 Blast Off Kits for Durham’s Partnership for Children – a fully bilingual, interactive, age-appropriate tool that helps children develop many of the essential skills needed for kindergarten-entry. Each kit is an individual box which contains various supplies that will promote a child’s emotional development, fine motor skills, prompt creativity and help him/her to learn sorting, counting, colors and shapes. The Blast Off Kits are distributed to Durham-based agencies and Durham Public Schools and then are given to Durham’s most vulnerable families with rising kindergartners.

2. Burch Avenue Neighborhood Park Clean-UpSign up to join nearby Burch Avenue residence for a park clean-up just off Duke’s East Campus.

This National Make a Difference Day project is a great way to get involved in serving the community while making new friends! Join millions of volunteers across the nation in an effort to improve the lives of others by giving a little that will help a lot in the lives of young children and their families in the area.
