Paintbrushes in hand, Duke alumni and retirees worked together Saturday morning to tackle beautification and repair projects at Durham’s Lakewood Elementary School.
The Duke Alumni Association, in partnership with Duke University Retiree Outreach (DURO), worked together as part of a “Duke Alums Engage” community project to draw lines on a new soccer field, catalog books in the school library, paint ceramic tiles in the art classroom, and paint outdoor railings and basketball court lines.
Fifty-seven volunteers from the Duke Triangle alumni group, which included Duke alumni and their friends and family, participated in the Lakewood event on Saturday.
