Our office is a partner in the Durham Youth Count, which seeks to estimate the number of local youth ages 14 to 24 who are experiencing or have experienced a housing crisis. The count is intended to engage youth in discussing their housing stability and how this might contribute to challenges they face in other developmental aspects of their lives.
The Youth Subcommittee of the Durham Homeless Services Advisory Committee has convened the effort and has trained volunteers to administer the survey.
Surveys will be conducted at locations throughout the community, including schools, after-school programs, detention centers, shopping centers, and other locations where youth are likely to congregate.
This is a critical step in our community efforts to end homelessness. Please visit the Durham Opening Doors site to learn more and to see how you can help.
