To date, the Doing Good Employee Giving campaign has raised $28,086 from 779 employee participants. These funds supported work across community nonprofit organizations, housing, food security, early-childhood education, economic development, and opportunities, and helped people navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters like Hurricane Helene.

How it works
Duke Doing Good employee contributions support community nonprofits, early education, economic mobility, health and nutrition, affordable housing, neighborhood projects, and disaster relief. When you give, you select which causes you want to support, and 100% of your donation goes to community organizations working in that space. There are 3 ways to give:
Team Members
Tuere Bowles
Associate Vice President for Operations, Research, and Advancement
Dr. Bowles’ role involves collaboration with key Duke and community-based partners to advance collective interests. She will establish a vision and implement strategic objectives to support the institution’s community affairs endeavors including creating and implementing a comprehensive development plan and launching a program evaluation structure to support the stewardship of resources.
Dr. Bowles possesses three decades of extensive experience in leading, designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in higher education. In Duke’s Office of Durham and Community Affairs, she spearheads the unit that supports the applied research, scholarship, and creative activities of DCA and translates results into social, economic, and technological developments with our neighbors in Durham and the region. The Research and Advancement unit also serves as the philanthropic nexus for donors leading to mission-guided investments and impacts. Signature efforts entail the Community Research Collaborative, Doing Good Employee Giving Campaign, Durham Data Science Initiative, and the Partnership Platform. Dr. Bowles formerly served as an Associate Professor and Director for the Study of Learning, Evaluation, and Dissemination (SLED) Collaborative in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development at North Carolina State University.
