Economic Mobility (Employment) Grants

The Duke University Doing Good employee giving campaign invites applications from nonprofit organizations impacting a person or family’s ability to improve their economic status over time.

Eligibility Criteria

This grant is open to publicly-funded academic institutions and nonprofit organizations offering college, career, and entrepreneurial readiness services in Durham County.

Proposed interventions and initiatives must focus on increasing economic mobility, meaning a
person or family’s ability to improve their economic status over time. Interventions and initiatives must also embrace an equity approach and align with at least one of the following focus areas:
• College and job readiness
• Career pathways and advanced employment
• Skills based and apprenticeship opportunities
• Entrepreneur and small businesses support, particularly from under-represented communities

Funds awarded must be expended by June 30, 2025.


Grant Amount

Most projects will funded up to $5,000.

Timeline

The grant application window for the 2024-2025 Doing Good – Economic Mobility (Employment) Fund is January 27 – February 28, 2025. The review process runs throughout March and applicants will be notified of decisions by early April. Funds awarded must be expended by June 30, 2025. Recipients must submit final grant reports by August 31, 2025.

Step 2: Once you have created an account or you have logged in, click on the “Apply” menu at the top of the page. Navigate to the “Doing Good – Economic Mobility (Employment)” fund section.
