New Early College High School
In partnership with Duke Health and Durham Technical Community College, Durham Public Schools is launching the Durham Early College of Health Sciences (DECHS). This new school is located at Durham Technical Community College in a renovated space. The inaugural class of 100 are set to begin classes this fall.
Duke University and Durham Public Schools Partnership
This partnership engages Duke faculty, students, and staff in hands-on, sustained efforts that support learning from pre-K through high school. Through mentoring, teaching, research, health care internships, arts access, and STEM enrichment, DPS students fain unique exposure to college and career pathways. At the same time, Duke benefits from deeper community ties, real-world teaching environments, and the opportunity to learn from and with Durham's youth.
Whether it's Duke nursing faculty teaching at Durham Tech, Duke students mentoring in local classrooms, or shared projects focused on mental health, arts, and environmental education, this is a reciprocal, evolving relationship that builds capacity, talent, and trust on both sides.
