Guest and Community Engagement Director at Duke Regional Hospital

 

Carol Swanson is the Director of Guest & Community Engagement at Duke Regional Hospital, where she leads initiatives that address community health needs, manages key partnerships, and advances programs aligned with the hospital’s mission. She also oversees Volunteer Services, the Information Desk, and Language Access Services.

With more than 20 years of experience in communications, community engagement, and patient advocacy, Carol has held several leadership roles at Duke Regional Hospital, including Patient & Visitor Relations Manager and Marketing Communications & Volunteer Services Manager. She also serves as Business Liaison for the Project SEARCH program and previously coordinated Duke Health’s Mobile Vaccination efforts in Durham during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Earlier in her career, Carol was Communications Manager at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science. She holds an MBA from Elon University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Appalachian State University. She is a Certified Patient Experience Professional and an alumna of the Duke University Health System Executive Fellows Program.
