Assistant Director for Education Outreach Programs

Chi Vo is an advocate, educator, and community builder dedicated to fostering spaces where young people and the village that surrounds them can thrive. Guided by a deep belief in the power of community and care, her work centers on building meaningful relationships and cultivating belonging. Over the years, she has mobilized neighbors and organizations across Durham through grassroots campaigns, policy initiatives, and civic advocacy. She champions spaces where every person is valued, serving on the Board of Directors for Families Moving Forward, Triangle Nonprofit and Volunteer Leadership Center, Durham Racial Equity Commission, and NC District 20 Citizens Advisory Council. She continues to invest her love into her hometown, Durham.

Chi recently returned to Duke Community Affairs as the Assistant Director of Education Outreach Programs. In this role, she leads transformative educational initiatives—from directing the America Reads/America Counts (ARAC) and Leap2School (L2S) tutoring programs, managing annual events like School Days and the Regional Scripps Spelling Bee, and stewarding the Education Strategic Council. Chi works every day to bridge campus and community resources to ensure Durham's young people, schools, and partners have what they need to shine.

Outside of these roles, you might catch her gardening at Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN), teaching arts and crafts, or dancing around the city as a local mascot.
