David Regan

David joined Duke in 2021 after 10 years working as a professional cameraman for film and television. During his film career, David worked around the world for both independent and studio productions including Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers and Netflix. An interest in sustainable food systems and public health led David to leave the film industry and settle in Durham with his family in 2018. David’s work in the field began through volunteer experience at local food pantries, and with a local nonprofit, End Hunger Durham, where David continues to serve as Co-Coordinator. From this role, David has immersed himself in numerous community-based efforts, including coordination of a weekly delivery program of prepared meals, PPE and fresh produce to over 1,000 senior residents at 17 congregate housing sites in Durham during the first several months of the COVID19 pandemic.

With Duke Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, David initially helped oversee support for Community Based Organizations serving residents in 8 counties quarantining from COVID19. David continues to direct sponsored programs, including the Duke Benefits Enrollment Center, which provides support for enrollment and retention of public benefits to Medicare Beneficiaries, as well as a partnership with the Durham Housing Authority, coordinating access to care for residents as part of a Housing and Urban Development ‘Choice Neighborhoods Initiative’ grant. 

David is currently completing his Masters of Public Health at Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
