Dr. Mac Summer Communications Internship

This NCCU- Duke summer internship, which began 16 years ago, is named after Dr. McKissick-Melton. She co-founded the NCCU-Duke Communication Internship Program and guided at least 250 students through a communications ‘boot camp’ hiring process resulting in hundreds of NCCU student interns working at various Duke departments.

Dr. McKissick-Melton, who retired in 2022, was an award-winning professor who led the creation of the Mass Communications Department at NCCU and was its first chair. She also spearheaded the creation of a digital media lab in the NCCU communications building that students call “The Mac Lab.”
