Activate Good: Kids Helping Kids
Funded by the Duke Doing Good Community Fund, the Kids Helping Kids Program invites youth to restore their sense of meaning and control by addressing social problems in our community. Involving youth in volunteerism is a well-researched strategy for positive youth development and constructive participation in society.
History of Medicine Project
John Hope Franklin Young Scholars studied diseases endemic to NC and created multimedia presentations to help understand North Carolina's historically poor population health.
AI and Implicit Bias
Both AI and bias (prejudice) have been major stories lately, from several states enacting new Jim Crow-style voting laws to anti-Asian sentiment. And then Google fired their head of AI ethics when she raised the question of hidden AI bias against women and people of color. Others have shown that bias is embedded into some AI programs.

Education and nonprofit organizations may apply for grants to support education and college & career readiness work. Application window is open until January 3, 2022.
Education and College & Career Readiness Grants
This grant application will open November 1-30, 2022. The Education and Workforce Doing Good employee giving grant is an annual opportunity for public schools and non-profit organizations offering educational and/or college and career readiness services to young people in Durham County.
