To honor a neighborhood ancestor and beloved community organizer, Southside Neighborhood Association purchased benches to place in an empty space at the entrance of the neighborhood. Brother Ray was a central leader and historic member of Southside who had a gift for building deep relationships with his neighbors.

Thirteen volunteers donated 31 hours of their time to organize this memorial that will serve over 300 individuals. These benches provide a space for continued neighborhood building across racial and economic differences, a place where people from all walks of life can sit down together and a pathway for Brother Ray’s legacy to continue.

This project was funded during FY 2021.
