
Patrick Mucklow
Executive Director | Museum of Durham History
Patrick Mucklow has served as Executive Director of the Museum of Durham History since 2017, after joining as Director of Operations in 2014. Under his leadership, the Museum has expanded its community-focused storytelling, launching impactful exhibitions such as its tenth-anniversary exhibit Stranger Times (2023), which explores Durham teens’ experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 100 Years of Duke: Names to Remember (2024), commemorating the centennial of Trinity College becoming Duke University.
Before joining the Museum, Patrick worked with the National Archives Foundation, where he led marketing and public relations efforts for exhibitions like To the Brink: The Cuban Missile Crisis and What’s Cooking, Uncle Sam? He also developed campaigns for iconic documents in the Archives’ permanent collection such as the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the 1297 Magna Carta. Additionally, he directed fundraising and membership initiatives for a distinguished Board of Directors featuring luminaries like journalist Cokie Roberts and filmmaker Ken Burns.
