DPSF School Reopening Grants

Duke supports public education by partnering with Durham Public Schools Foundation. A contribution to the Foundation's School Reopening Grants program yielded wonderful results in our community for teachers, parents and students. Since March, 2021, $300,000 has gone to 39 schools for urgent needs related to returning to the classroom.

Improving our Parks: Lakeview Park

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) staff began meeting with residents living near Lakeview Park. They were invited by the neighborhood and the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership to help re-vision the park. Over the course of two years they developed a master plan for the park with the growing Braggtown Community Association.

2021 Community Engagement Awards

Duke Civic Engagement awards the 2021 Lars Lyon Volunteer Service Award to Hannah McKnight and the 2021 Duke Employee Community Service Award to Scott “Esko” Brummel.
