MLK Meal Packaging Event Perseveres
The MLK meal packaging event on January 17 was able to continue despite bad weather that kept many volunteers away. The event is an annual partnership between Duke, regional Rotary clubs and Duke School, where the event is hosted. Sam delivered opening remarks on the significance of the day – honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by “making sure that Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community is achieved. Let the work begin and never end.” Kudos to Elly Thompson for organizing the Duke component of the day. The event packaged 41,000 meals to distribute to food insecure families. Photographed below are Sam Miglarese and Duke students, Brady Vaughan, Jessica Voss and Chase Frutos who connected to the event through the Rotary.
