Community voices convened to create a community engagement strategy
Regional Spelling Bee winner, Cana Gerald-Hasan, was featured on NPR’s The Takeaway, titled “Black Girl Magic at the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee.”
Durham Children’s Initiative supports underserved families from “cradle to college or employment.” The program first assisted Tiffaney White’s younger children, but ultimately it helped her entire family reach their goals.
After a day of spelling, in the regional spelling bee, Cana Gerald-Hasan of A. L. Stanback Middle School was declared our Duke Regional Spelling Bee champion and is moving on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
